About the race
Big Brad Races in Pownal, ME is a trail running event organized by Trail Monster Running at Bradbury Mountain State Park and nearby trails. The event is the finale of the Bradbury Trail Running Series; finishers who complete the series earn a Badass Hoodie and the Half-Pint 25K counts toward the series standings. The course is a roughly 16 mile loop of singletrack that passes over Tryon Mountain, around the powerlines and the Elwood / Snowman’s Loop, and returns to the park. Terrain includes steep hills, rocks, roots, very little flat, about 1/2 mile of paved road and about 1/4 mile of dirt road.
Runners may see fall foliage and vista views along the route. Race options: - Pounder 50K (two laps of the loop) - Half-Pint 25K (one lap of the loop) - Punisher (three laps of the loop) Field size is limited: the Pounder is capped at 80 runners and the Half-Pint at 120. If capacity is reached, registration will close with no wait list and no bib transfers. Pounder entrants may drop to the Half-Pint before registration closes but no refunds will be issued. Two aid stations are on course and are passed twice per loop.
The longest gap between aid stations is about 6 miles. Pounder runners may place one clearly labeled drop bag at the central aid station. The event is cupless"ish" so runners should bring a reusable cup.
Headlamps are required for any runner finishing in the dark. No dogs are permitted. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
