Bewl 15 & 5 Mile

The Bewl 15 & 5 Mile races are organised by Wadhurst Runners and are scheduled for 4 July 2027 at Bewl Water, Wadhurst, Sussex (Blacksmiths Lane TN5 6AZ). The event offers two distances:

  • 15 Mile
  • 5 Mile

The course runs on a mixture of footpaths, trails and quiet country lanes with waterside sections around the reservoir. The 15 mile route starts in Wadhurst, descends to join the round Bewl route and features gently undulating sections along the shore plus a shorter hilly section on quiet lanes. There is a four hour time limit for the 15 mile race. The 5 mile race is entirely off-road, follows the 15 mile course for about 2.5 miles and then returns along the same route.

All finishers receive a bespoke medal and a commemorative Bewl t-shirt. The event includes spot prizes, trophies and cash prizes for the top three male and female finishers in the 15 mile race (first prize rises if the course record is broken). Finish-line provisions mentioned include complimentary cake and beer and local brass band accompaniment. The races support the Air Ambulance Charity Kent Surrey Sussex. On-the-day entry fees are listed for both distances and parking is available subject to weather. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
