River Gorge
River Gorge is a set of trail races held on the Mullens Cove and Pot Point loops in the Prentice-Cooper Wildlife Management Area near Chattanooga, Tennessee. Distances offered run along highly technical single-track with rock underfoot and significant elevation changes.
The course features bluff views of the Tennessee River, cascading streams lined with rhododendron, and stands of towering hemlock. The route uses loop trails through the Prentice-Cooper area and is described as technical single-track throughout.
Distances and climbing
- 6.5 mi - about 1,500 ft climbing; cutoff 2 hours 30 minutes
- 10.2 mi - about 2,000 ft climbing; cutoff 3 hours 30 minutes
- 20 mi - about 3,000 ft climbing; cutoff 5 hours 30 minutes
Registration is online only and there is no walk-up registration on race day; registration closes Friday, November 20 at 11:59 PM CT. Packet pickup is available Friday, November 20 from 4:30 PM to 6:00 PM at Hello Monty on Main, and race day pickup at the Mullens Cove parking lot. Overall awards are given for Male and Female 1st through 3rd place, and an awards ceremony follows the race. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
