Backyard Ultra Tailgate
The Backyard Ultra Tailgate is the second annual event held in 2026 at 819 Laurens Rd, Greenville, SC. The format uses a repeating loop on the Swamp Rabbit Trail where participants run a 5 km lap each hour. Participants may complete a single lap or multiple laps, including the option to run up to ten laps.
Each lap is associated with hourly on-site activities. After finishing a lap there will be games, vendors, raffles, and football shown on a large screen. Participants are invited to bring a lawn chair and snacks for use between laps.
Raffle prizes are tied to laps and local businesses sponsor each hourly lap. To earn a raffle ticket for a lap, a lap must be completed within 55 minutes. Additional raffle tickets are available for purchase at the event for $3 per ticket or 4 for $10. Proceeds from the event will support OVC Kenya, a program that partners with local churches to provide sustainable, long-term educational, physical, and relational support to vulnerable children, with the stated goal of helping break the cycle of poverty in participating communities.
