Back the Badge 5K - Boerne
Back the Badge 5K in Boerne returns on October 31, 2026 as a community run and walk supporting Kendall County Law Enforcement Agencies. The event offers two separate 5K entries: a general Back the Badge 5K and a Law Enforcement Only 5K.
Packet pick-up is race day only, and race day registration is available. Participants receive a race shirt and a finisher medal. Registration fees are non refundable.
The course uses multiple surfaces and settings. It begins at the Kendall County Fairgrounds on dirt, continues along the paved Rails for Trails #9 Line, and finishes on the soft, well maintained trails of the Cibolo Nature Center. Well mannered leashed dogs and strollers are permitted on the course; participants with strollers are asked to yield to runners when necessary. In the event of wet or muddy conditions, portions of the course may be altered to protect participants and the trails. The event is held rain or shine.
Awards are presented for overall and masters categories, plus age group awards in ten year increments: 0 to 19, 20 to 29, 30 to 39, 40 to 49, 50 to 59, 60 to 69, and 70 plus. The Law Enforcement Only 5K includes a friendly three person team challenge with one team per department; team times are added together and winners receive a special prize.
