Among The Pines Backyard Ultra
Among The Pines Backyard Ultra is an off road backyard ultra held within Gisburn Forest with the race base at Stephen Park beside the main Gisburn Forest car park. Runners complete a single loop of forest tracks and flowing trail sections, starting a new lap every hour. Completing the lap within the hour allows a runner to begin another lap; the event continues in this format until only one runner remains.
The loop follows runnable forest fire roads and shaded pine lined trails through the Forest of Bowland and features smooth rolling terrain with around 550 ft elevation on the circuit. The event limits the field to a maximum of 200 entrants and includes an entry fee of £115.
Facilities and inclusions listed for entrants include an entry ticket, a unique finishers buckle, a winner’s trophy with a unique buckle and prize money, pitch space at Stephen Park for a race basecamp, parking for one car, drinks and snacks, and hot and cold water. Prize money is awarded to the overall winner and contributes to an additional prize for any runner who exceeds the 100 mile mark.
