Amberaid 30 Trail Race and Petit Raid

Amberaid is a trail running event based at Ashover Village Hall in the Amber Valley, Derbyshire, close to the eastern edge of the Peak District. It offers off-road routes over undulating countryside paths and woodland trails.

Distances

  • 31 mile Amberaid 30 route
  • 20 mile Petit Raid northern loop

The 31 mile route forms a figure of eight through rural areas with climbs, descents and open viewpoints. The Petit Raid follows the northern loop of the main route and covers 20 miles of similar terrain. The route is largely unmarked; organisers provide route notes and GPX files and participants are advised to carry a paper map as backup.

There is a 9 hour time limit for the Amberaid route. Runners must meet checkpoint departure requirements or they may be redirected onto the Petit Raid. Checkpoints are positioned as follows: CP1 Tupton at 7 miles, CP2 Wessington at 13.5 miles, CP3 Fritchley at 20 miles (Amberaid only), and CP4 Wessington at 25.5 miles (Amberaid only). Every checkpoint has water and CP1 CP2 and CP4 also offer food.

Every finisher receives a medal and there are prizes for first male and first female in each race. Light refreshments are provided at the finish and medic cover is available on the course and at race headquarters. Minimum age 18. Event organiser is First Light Adventure. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
