Amberaid and Petit Raid

Amberaid is a long-distance trail event in the Amber Valley, Derbyshire, on the eastern edge of the Peak District. It offers a full circuit that passes through rural landscapes, woodland trails, climbs and descents, and expansive views. The Petit Raid follows the northern loop of the same route and covers a shorter distance.

The event is based at Ashover Village Hall / Ashover Parish Hall (S45 0BA), with free parking at the hall. The route is largely unmarked; organisers provide route notes and GPX files and recommend carrying a paper map as a backup. There is medic cover on the course and at race headquarters.

Checkpoints are staffed and supply water; checkpoints 1, 2 and 4 provide both sweet and savoury food. Specific checkpoint locations on the route are listed as: CP1 Tupton (7 miles), CP2 Wessington (13.5 miles), CP3 Fritchley (20 miles, Amberaid only), CP4 Wessington (25.5 miles, Amberaid only).

A time limit of nine hours applies. Runners on the Amberaid route must have left CP2 by 12.30pm or they will be redirected onto the Petit Raid route. Finishers receive a medal; prizes are awarded to first male and female in each race. Light refreshments are available at the finish.

Distances and elevation are published for the routes. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
