Windgather Fell Race

The Windgather Fell Race is an approximately half marathon fell event around the Goyt Valley, finishing near Shining Tor. The course is about 21.5 km / 13.5 miles with roughly 760 m of ascent and descent, and is almost entirely off road on tracks and trails. The route is marked at junctions but navigation remains the responsibility of each runner; free maps are available online or at race headquarters.

The event is intended to be accessible to runners with limited fell experience while still requiring standard fell-race navigation and safety awareness. Full Fell Runners Association kit must be carried, including a waterproof whole-body cover with taped seams and attached hood, hat, gloves, a map of the route, a compass, a whistle and emergency food. A water bottle and basic first aid items are strongly recommended. Water is provided at two points on the route and hot food and drinks are available at the finish. Course conditions may be muddy in places and footwear with good grip is required.

Pre-entry is required and there is no guaranteed entry on the day; on-day entry may be possible at a higher fee if places remain. Minimum age is 18. The race is organised as a charity event with proceeds to Buxton Rotary. Pre-entries for this anniversary edition receive a memento. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
