Trail Running calendar near Hamsterley 2026-2027

Trail races from Grizedale Visitor Centre in the Lake District on varied, undulating forest tracks. Options include a 13-mile half and a 26-mile marathon with an eastern loop toward Windermere, compulsory kit and timed cut offs apply.

Two marked off-road courses at Whinlatter on 7 February 2027, offering a 10k and a 5K with significant ascent. Chip timed with GPX files available, individual starts, and two dogs permitted per runner.

A flat trail event on the Leeds to Liverpool Canal with multiple distances, marshals and drink stations. Canal side facilities are provided and finishers receive a bespoke medal and treats.

Coastal trail running at Bamburgh on 20 February 2027 offering 10K, half, marathon and ultra routes across sandy beaches and dunes. The linear CTS course is part of the Endurancelife 2026-27 season and earns leaderboard points.

A circular 14 mile trail half marathon across the Yorkshire Wolds on undulating, non technical terrain with GPX and marked junctions. Plantable wildflower medal, charity donations from entry fees, and a five hour overall cut off.

A trail half marathon based at Levisham Village Hall that explores the Hole of Horcum and varied North York Moors terrain. Limited to 50 runners, the event includes checkpoints, a five hour time limit and mandatory kit requirements.

Trail runs around Alnwick Castle with 10km and half marathon options on hilly trails through Hulne Park and castle grounds, live chip timing, free parking, and a £4-per-entry donation to NE Youth.

Trail runs at Fountains Abbey and Studley Royal Water Garden on 28 February 2027 offer 5km, 10km and half marathon distances with live chip timing. Canicross is allowed and finishers receive a medal, merchandise, snack and drink.

March 2027

A fully tracked 30 mile trail ultra in Cumbria with 3000 ft of ascent around the Eden Valley and edge of the Yorkshire Dales. Four checkpoints supply water and snacks and walkers are welcome with a 12 hour cut off.

Experience a classic 15 km fell race through the South West Pennines. Starting from Barley Village Hall, this event features 545 meters of ascent and requires navigation skills for all participants.

Trail runs of 10 km and 20 km take place at Beacon Fell Country Park on 7 March 2027 with chip timing and medals for finishers. Pre registration is required and there is a three hour cut off time.

A new half marathon at Grizedale Forest on 7 March 2027, run on marked, chip timed forest trails with views over Coniston Water. Runners may bring up to two dogs and a 12k option is also available.

Trail running at Leighton Hall on 13 March 2027 across farmland and coastal scenery in the Arnside and Silverdale Area of Natural Beauty, with a 10 km and two half marathon formats; dogs are not allowed.

A 51 km off road fell race from Haworth across gritstone moors with 1615 m of ascent, mandatory FRA kit and six feed stations. Early starts and guided reccy runs are available before race day.

A coastal ultra trail from Bamburgh Castle to Druridge Bay Country Park with 54 km and 27 km options. A-B logistics require a pre-booked shuttle or own transport; routes, feed stations and a mandatory kit list are provided.

Two Crosses Circuit is a challenge event organised by East Lancashire LDWA, next scheduled for 14 March 2027. It is listed as an LDWA challenge event and falls within the association's usual challenge event framework of 20 to 100 miles.

Grasmere Wild Trail Runs returns in March 2027 with a new half marathon plus 10km and 5km routes around Grasmere and Rydal. The event is canicross friendly, uses live chip timing and provides medals, merchandise and post-race refreshments.

A 55 mile ultramarathon from Guisborough to Helmsley across the North York Moors and Cleveland Hills, with over 2700 m of ascent and a 16 hour time limit. Compulsory tracker, mandatory kit and checkpoint cut offs apply.

A 70KM Lake District traverse following Wainwright’s Coast to Coast route from St Bees to Patterdale, with checkpoints at Ennerdale and Borrowdale. Overall cut-off 18 hours and finishers earn ITRA endurance points.
