The Charmian Interest Link Challenge 2027
The Charmian Interest Link Challenge is an annual multi-discipline event held at The Haining in Selkirk. The event features both running and walking options set within the local countryside and around the loch. It is organized to support Interest Link Borders, an organization that works with individuals with learning disabilities.
Participants can choose from several distance options:
- 5 km Trail Run: A competitive run conducted on rough paths.
- 2 km or 4 km Fun Walk: A scenic, accessible walk that circles the loch.
All routes are signposted and monitored by marshals. Participants who complete their chosen distance receive a biscuit medal. The event site includes accessible toilets and a station for refilling water bottles. Refreshments are available on-site, and a tombola featuring various prizes is part of the fundraising activities.
Parking at The Haining is limited. Attendees may use the free West Port Car Park located near the main Selkirk Square, which is connected to the event site by a path approximately a six-minute walk away. Registration is available in advance or on the day of the event.
The challenge honors the memory of Charmian Ledsham, who served as a director and Vice-Convenor of Interest Link Borders for two decades. The gathering provides an opportunity for social interaction among participants in a natural setting. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
