Yukon River Trail Marathon
The Yukon River Trail Marathon is an annual race organized by the Boreal Adventure Running Association, established in 1999. The event takes place in Whitehorse and includes a marathon distance and relay team options.
The course begins on the Millennium Trail, moves onto single track sections to Kwanlin (Miles Canyon) and Canyon City, continues on the Yukon River Trail toward Chadburn Lake, follows trails along Chadden Lake, Schwatka Lake and Hidden Lakes, and reaches an area near the Whitehorse dam before returning to the Millennium Trail and running beside the Yukon River (Chu Níikwän) to the finish. The route includes varied trail terrain and river-side sections.
Key participant information includes a final day for changes and transfers on July 18, bib pickup on July 31 and August 1 at Sport Yukon, 4061 4th Ave, and race day on August 2, 2026. Registrations for the current edition are listed as sold out.
The race is run by a volunteer board and committees. Volunteer roles cover directing runners, providing water on course, feeding runners at race end, operating timing and sound systems, and compiling results. Volunteers receive a small gift and a snack on race day.
The event is held on the traditional territories of the Ta’an Kwäch’än Council and the Kwanlin Dün First Nation. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
