Event Overview

The Yandina Five 'O' is a trail running event held in the township of Yandina on the Sunshine Coast hinterland. The event name comes from the local Indigenous language meaning 'to go on foot'.

Distances

Four race distances are offered:

  • 50 km
  • 36 km
  • 21 km
  • 12 km

The courses travel through Mapleton National Park and some private land, featuring terrain that includes bubbling creeks, a lookout, and hilly sections. The first 2.5 km of the course is on private property and is closed for training.

Event Base

The start and finish area for all races is Terella Brewing, a craft beer brewery located at 196 Bunya Road, North Arm. The venue offers drinks and meals.

Parking and Transport

Event parking is at 124 Lees Road, Bridges. Strictly no parking or drop-offs are permitted at Terella Brewing. A courtesy bus transports participants from the parking area to the start/finish area.

Registration and Entry Details

Entry includes an event shirt, a finisher's memento, parking, and the courtesy bus service. There are no entries on the day of the event. Minimum age limits apply: 12 years for the 12 km, 15 years for the 21 km, and 18 years for the 36 km and 50 km races. Participants under 18 require a parent or guardian to be present.

Course and Safety

The course is marked with reflective orange flagging tape approximately every 250 meters, red directional arrows, and red crosses to indicate incorrect paths. Checkpoints provide water, electrolyte, lollies, fruit, and small snacks. The event has a no-cup policy; participants must carry their own cup for drinks at checkpoints. Mandatory gear includes a mobile phone, a headlamp for 50 km competitors, a race bib, a water bottle or hydration pack with specified minimum capacities, and a compression bandage. Trail runs nearby

Round 7 of Season 13 at Ewen Maddock Dam on 1 March 2026 features short and long course trail races with professional timing, race photos, series points and a post race coffee cart. Distances are 8.2 km and 14.4 km.

Noosa Ultra Trail returns to Tewantin on 21 March 2026 offering trail races from 15 km to 100 km across the Noosa Trail Network. The event is part of a multi day schedule and is officially recognised on the UTMB INDEX.

UTMB Index

Teams traverse Imbil State Forest from Kenilworth across 18 km, 30 km or 48 km routes. The event is team-only, honours the Kokoda Campaign values and raises funds for the Kokoda Youth Foundation youth programs.

A trail ultramarathon on the Blackall Range at Mapleton offering 100 km, 50 km and 21 km courses through rainforest and eucalypt forest. The 100 km is a Western States qualifier; finishers receive a commemorative bell and memento.
