About the race
The Noosa Ultra-Trail is a multi-distance trail running event held in the Noosa region, using the Noosa Trail Network and surrounding hinterland. Courses run through national parks, state forests, reserves and hinterland townships, and include a mixture of trails, 4WD tracks, dirt roads and some technical sections.
The event offers multiple distances:
- 100 km Ultra-Trail linking Noosa hinterland townships through five National Parks.
- 80 km Hinterland Traverse with about 1800 m of ascent and varied terrain.
- 50 km Out’N’Back from town to trail and back with roughly 900 m of ascent.
- 45 km Mountain Marathon point-to-point with approximately 1,200 m of ascent.
- 30 km Pomona Sundowner runnable point-to-point through shady forest.
- 25 km Cross Country downhill point-to-point from Twin Views Lookout to Tewantin.
- 15 km Forest classic Noosa forest run.
The race is an INDEX level event within the UTMB family. Longer events (45 km and above) have mandatory gear requirements including a mobile phone, rain jacket if rain is predicted, water/electrolyte and nutrition, and a compression bandage; some ultra distances require additional items such as a hi-vis vest, headlamp and thermal top. There are aid stations, checkpoints with medical personnel, signage by course colour, shuttle bus transport from Noosa accommodation hubs to start areas, and a gear tent and lost property service at the main venue.
