Woodpecker Six is a six hour endurance run organized by LoKeyz Trail Runners at Pinicon Ridge Park in Central City, IA. The event uses a wooded trail loop inside the park, which covers 966 acres and is accessed from 4732 Horseshoe Falls Rd.
The marked course is an approximately 1.2 mile loop largely on woodland trails. Each loop includes two large climbs with multiple stairs and has about 215 feet of elevation gain. Course direction will change every two hours so participants will run the loop in both directions during the event.
On course and at the start and finish there will be aid station foods and warm and cold beverages. Participants receive a long sleeve race shirt; the last date to guarantee a shirt is Sunday, October 25. Special awards are planned for runners who complete 24 loops or more. Any additional entry funds will be donated to Pinicon Ridge Park for trail improvements.
Woodpecker lodge provides indoor heated space for runner drop bags and there is ample outdoor space for canopies and staging. The event will proceed in rain or snow, and participants should be prepared for variable weather conditions. The listed entry fee is USD 70.71.
