Woodpecker Six

Woodpecker Six is a six hour endurance run held in Central City, IA, inside the 966 acre area of Linn County Pinicon Ridge Park. The course is an approximately 1.2 mile trail loop that runs mostly on woodland trails and includes two large climbs with multiple stairs. Each loop has about 215 feet of elevation gain.

Runners complete as many loops as they can within the six hour format. Course direction changes every two hours so participants cover the trail in both directions. Special awards are given to runners who complete 24 loops or more.

Event support includes a start and finish area with generous aid station foods and both warm and cold beverages. A long sleeve race shirt is provided to entrants. Additional event funds are designated for trail improvements at Pinicon Ridge Park.

A heated lodge at the site provides space for runner drop bags, and there is outdoor space available for canopies and staging. The event proceeds in rain or snow. Pets and strollers are not permitted on the course. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
