About the race
The Woodpecker Six is a six hour endurance run on November 14, 2026 in Central City, IA, organized by LoKeyz Trail Runners at Linn County Pinicon Ridge Park. The event uses a trail loop format so participants can run or walk as much as they choose within the six hour period.
The course is a roughly 1.2 mile trail loop through the park’s wooded terrain. Each loop includes two large climbs, multiple stairs, and mostly woodland trails, with about 215 feet of elevation gain per loop. The park area is described as 966 acres.
Course direction will change every two hours so the loop is run in both directions during the event. The event provides aid station foods and warm and cold beverages at the start and finish area, and a long sleeve race shirt is included. The Woodpecker lodge offers heated indoor space for a runner drop bag and outdoor space for canopies and staging.
Additional funds from the event are designated for Pinicon Ridge Park trail improvements. Special awards are planned for runners who complete 24 loops or more. Pets and strollers are not permitted, and the event will proceed in rain or snow. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
