Woodpecker Six

The Woodpecker Six is a six-hour endurance run held at Linn County Pinicon Ridge Park near Central City, Iowa. The course is a 1.2-mile trail loop inside the park, which covers 966 wooded acres. The trail is hilly and mostly woodland, with two large climbs that include multiple stairs. Each loop has an elevation gain of approximately 215 feet.

Participants can run or walk as much as they like within the six-hour period. The direction of the course changes every two hours. The event is organized by the LoKeyz Trail Runners.

An aid station at the start/finish line provides hot food and beverages. Participants receive a long sleeve race shirt. Heated indoor space is available in the Woodpecker lodge for a runner drop bag, and there is also outdoor space for canopies. The event takes place regardless of rain or snow. Pets and strollers are not permitted. Proceeds from the event are donated to Pinicon Ridge Park for trail improvements. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
