Woodpecker Six

Woodpecker Six is a six-hour endurance run held at Linn County Pinicon Ridge Park in Central City, IA. The course is set inside the park near 4732 Horseshoe Falls Rd and uses a looped trail through wooded terrain. The event is scheduled for Saturday, November 14.

The loop is approximately 1.2 miles long and is mostly on woodland trails. Each loop includes two large climbs with multiple stairs and about 215 feet of elevation gain. Course direction changes every two hours so runners experience the trail in both directions.

On-course support includes generous amounts of hearty hot aid station foods and warm and cold beverages at the start and finish area. Participants receive a long sleeve race shirt and runners who complete 24 loops or more receive special awards. A heated lodge is available for drop bags and there is outdoor space for canopies and staging. The event proceeds in rain or snow. Pets and strollers are not allowed. Registration opens June 6, 2026.
