Witterings Beach Run
Witterings Beach Run is a coastal running event on the sands of West Wittering Beach, a Blue Flag coastline with panoramic views of Selsey Bill, the Isle of Wight, Chichester Harbour, the Solent and the South Downs. Wide natural sandy expanses form much of the route, and low tide exposes extensive sandy flats used for running.
Three clearly signed distances are offered:
- 15.3 km
- 10 km
- 5 km
The long route includes a lap of Medmerry Nature Reserve using wide gravel paths. The course is marked with pink arrows and pink tape; hazards and road junctions are signed with caution markers. On-course water stations are provided, and the event operates chip timing. Participants receive a high-quality metal medal, a finisher goodie, a refreshing drink and a personalised certificate. First aid cover, on-course marshals and an event photographer are available.
The event asks runners to use reusable cups or bottles because it operates plastic free. Canicross entries are permitted with a limit of one dog per runner; participants are advised to bring poo bags, water, treats and an appropriate dog lead. Parking is managed by West Wittering Estate.
