Witterings Beach Run - West Wittering, Chichester
The Witterings Beach Run is a coastal running event held on West Wittering Beach in Chichester, West Sussex. The course follows the Blue Flag shoreline and, at low tide, uses expansive sandy flats that provide a firm running surface with sea and landscape views including Selsey Bill, the Isle of Wight, Chichester Harbour, the Solent and the South Downs.
Three distances are offered:
- 15.3k trail route
- 10k trail route
- 5k trail route
Course terrain is a mix of wide runnable paths, beach sand and off-road sections. Elevation gains are small across the distances and route descriptions note gently rolling trails with limited climbing. The course is waymarked using pink arrows and pink tape; hazards and road junctions are marked with caution signs.
Event services include chip timing, on-course water stations and other refreshments, first aid cover at the event centre and on-course aid stations, marshals, a metal finisher medal, finisher goodies and a personalised certificate. The event operates a plastic free policy so runners are asked to bring a reusable cup or bottle for water stations.
Canicross is accommodated and the event allows one dog per runner; owners are asked to bring poo bags, water, treats and an appropriate lead. Parking is managed via the West Wittering Estate. Bibs are collected at registration and must be displayed on the front of the runner. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
