Withins Skyline
Withins Skyline is a fell race organised by Wharfedale Harriers on Sunday 11th October 2026. The senior course is a 6.2 mile circuit with approximately 820 ft of ascent, starting from Penistone Hill Country Park and running via The Stoop and Top Withins before returning by Bronte Bridge to the cricket pitch at West End Cricket Club (GR 023 363). The senior race is for over 18s only and is part of the Woodentops Race Series, which also includes The Stoop and Stanbury Splash. Chip timing will be used for the series.
The route leaves the quarry bottom, follows a track to Drop Farm, drops toward the beck that feeds Leeshaw Reservoir, then climbs across boggy plateaus to the Stoop Standing Stone. Runners follow the watershed, gain ground toward Dick Delf Hill, then join the Pennine Way to pass the ruins of Top Withins. The return route descends to Bronte Bridge, crosses the beck, follows the tourist path past Middle Intake farm, and leaves the track to reach the finish on the cricket pitch. There is a cut-off of 45 minutes at The Stoop Stone.
Junior races are held on the day; juniors receive a Curly Wurly goody bag sponsored by Precision Pest Management and there are Halloween-themed fancy dress prizes. Entry options include day entry and online combined or individual entry via RaceBest. Teams of three enter free. Prizegiving takes place outside the hut with a published prize list and rules on prize collection. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
