Withins Skyline

Withins Skyline is a fell race held on Sunday 11th October 2026 around Penistone Hill Country Park. The senior course is 6.2 mile with about 820 ft of ascent and is classified BM. The senior event is for over 18s only and forms part of the Wooodentops Race Series alongside The Stoop and Stanbury Splash. Chip timing is used for the series.

The route starts from the quarry bottom on Penistone and follows the track to Drop Farm. Runners follow a narrowing path down to the beck that feeds Leeshaw Reservoir, then climb across boggy plateaus to the Stoop Standing Stone. The course continues along the watershed, ascends toward Dick Delf Hill, then bears right to join the Pennine Way to the ruins of Top Withins. From there the route descends to Bronte Bridge, crosses the beck and follows the tourist path past Middle Intake farm before the final path back to the cricket pitch finish. There is a cut off of 45 minutes at The Stoop Stone.

Junior races are organised separately and include a Curly Wurly goody bag for all juniors sponsored by Precision Pest Management and Halloween themed fancy dress prizes.
