Withins Skyline

Withins Skyline is a senior fell race of 6.2 miles with approximately 820 ft of ascent (classification BM). The course starts from Penistone Hill Country Park, circuits The Stoop and Top Withins, and returns via Bronte Bridge to finish on the cricket pitch. The route follows a track to Drop Farm, descends toward the beck feeding Leeshaw Reservoir, then climbs over several boggy plateaus to the Stoop Standing Stone. Runners follow the watershed, gain ground toward Dick Delf Hill, then bear right to join the Pennine Way and pass the ruins of Top Withins before descending to Bronte Bridge. After crossing the beck the route follows a tourist path and track, passes Middle Intake farm, and takes a final path back to the finish.

The senior race forms part of the Woodentops Race Series (Withins Skyline, The Stoop and Stanbury Splash) and will use chip timing. There is a cut off of 45 minutes at The Stoop Stone. Senior entries are for over 18s only. Entry arrangements include online options for individual races or a combined three-race entry, and on-the-day entry; team entries for three runners are recorded as free.

Junior races are included on the day. All junior entrants receive a Curly Wurly goody bag sponsored by Precision Pest Management, and there are fancy dress prizes with a Halloween theme. Entry details for 2026 are to be advised. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
