Wentworth Falls Trail Run

The Wentworth Falls event offers two marked trail race options that start and finish at the Fairmont Resort in Wentworth Falls. Both courses run through Blue Mountains National Park on single trails and stairs, passing viewpoints including Wentworth Falls and Mt. Solitary.

Distances and elevation:

  • 11 km +545 m elevation
  • 16 km +645 m elevation

From the Fairmont runners head toward Lilian’s Bridge. At the bridge courses separate then rejoin at the Conservation Hut where Aid Station 1 provides water and fruit. The route continues via the Shortcut Track and stairs to Chester Rd Aid Station 2, which supplies water, fruit and electrolyte. Both courses follow the top of the falls, pass Fletcher’s Lookout, traverse the Undercliff and Overcliff Tracks, and finish with an uphill climb back to the Fairmont. Courses are marked and marshals are positioned at key points.

All runners must carry at least 500 mL of water and the event applies a No Water No Result rule. There will be no cups at course aid stations so runners should use their own collapsible cup or flask. Aid stations include emergency pads and tampons, hand sanitiser, waste and recycling bins, and volunteers in contact with First Aid. Toilets are available at the Fairmont and at the Conservation Hut.

Runners must reach Valley of the Waters within two hours; this point is 12 km into the full course and 9 km into the short course. There are competitor limits, no on the day entries, and the entry fee listed is $65 for each distance. Headphones are not permitted and walking poles are allowed with caution. Volunteers are invited for aid station and marshal roles. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
