About the race
Wentworth Falls is a trail running event in the Blue Mountains with start and finish at the Fairmont Resort, Leura. The event offers two course lengths:
- 11 km
- 16 km
Both courses run on single trails and stairs through Blue Mountains National Park, passing Lilian’s Bridge, Conservation Hut, the top of Wentworth Falls, Fletcher’s Lookout, the Undercliff and Overcliff Tracks and finishing back at the Fairmont. Elevation gain is listed as +545 m for the 11 km and +645 m for the 16 km. The route is marked and marshals are positioned at key points; specific marshals direct runners where the courses split or rejoin.
Aid stations are located at Conservation Hut (water, fruit) and Chester Road (water, fruit, electrolyte). There will be no disposable cups on course so each runner must carry at least 500 mL of water from the start; failure to carry water results in no result. There is a course cut off requiring all runners to be at Valley of the Waters within 2 hours; that location is 12 km into the full course and 9 km into the short course.
Fairmont Resort car park is available complimentary for competitors via a QR registration system. There are toilets at the race hub and public toilets at the Conservation Hut.
