The Washpool World Heritage Trails event is held 21-22 March 2026 at Mulligans Campground in Gibraltar Range National Park, NSW. The event takes place within the World Heritage-listed Washpool and Gibraltar Range parks and features rainforest, granite outcrops and creeks. Parking at Mulligans Campground is very limited. Camping options include free walk-in sites (Friday and Saturday nights) and 20 designated sites that must be booked through the National Parks website; bookings open 21 September 2025. The event is cupless - runners must bring a reusable cup or soft flask. There is no phone reception across the courses or at the finish line. No medals are awarded; all finishers receive a Washpool hat.
Courses
- 50km Ultra - +1,250m ascent/descent; course cut-off 10 hours; min age 18; $50
- 25km - +450m ascent/descent; course cut-off 5 hours; min age 14; $25
- 9km - +240m ascent/descent; course cut-off 2 hours 15 minutes; min age 12; $15
All races start and finish at Mulligans Campground. The 50km follows the Gibraltar-Washpool World Heritage Walk in an anti-clockwise loop with aid stations at 14.2km, 32.5km and 43.5km; some drop bags are permitted. The 25km has aid stations at 7km and 13.1km; drop bags at the finish only. The 9km has no aid stations; its finish will be stocked. Mandatory gear varies by distance but includes a charged mobile phone, snake bandage, space blanket and emergency whistle; gear is checked at bib collection. ITRA points are awarded: 50km = 2, 25km = 1, 9km = 1. Presentations take place beside the finish line at Mulligans Campground. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
