The Vertical Slam Ultimate Challenge is a trail sports event taking place on the Beatton River Valley Viewpoint Trail in Cecil Lake, British Columbia. It is a fundraiser for local school food programs. The event states that no refunds are offered.
Courses and Distances
Three distances are offered, each with significant elevation gain. The courses are described as rolling.
- A 5 km course with around 150 meters of elevation gain.
- A 10 km (approximate) course with around 450 meters of elevation gain.
- A 21 km (approximate) course with close to 1000 meters of elevation gain.
For the 2026 edition, the organizers note a reversal of the courses for the 10 km and 21 km distances compared to previous years. There are no time cutoffs for finishing. Participants are welcome to run or hike.
Practical Details
Registration fees are CA$30 for the 5 km, CA$40 for the 10 km, and CA$50 for the 21 km. A bib pick-up is scheduled for the evening before the race. The event is held in June. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
