The Umstead Trail Marathon takes place on March 7, 2026, at William B. Umstead State Park in Raleigh, NC. The event covers 26.2 miles through the park's roughly 5,000-acre wilderness.

Course

The course mixes trail types: about 25% technical single-track and 75% fine gravel bridle paths. The route includes roughly 2,400 feet of total elevation gain and passes through forested areas, along lakes, and near streams.

Logistics and support

Aid stations offering hydration and fuel are positioned approximately every 2-4 miles. Stations are maintained by volunteers and course monitors are present on the route. The event is cupless; participants must carry their own drinking vessel. Packet pickup is available Friday 4:00 PM - 7:00 PM and Saturday 7:30 AM - 8:30 AM. A post-race meal is provided at the finish area. Every participant receives a commemorative race t-shirt and a finisher's pint glass.
