Tijeras, United States • 23 May 2026
Event
Ultra Cheii takes place near Tijeras, New Mexico, on private land that borders national forest, about a 15 minute drive east of Albuquerque. The event offers two formats:
- 100 mile solo
- 100 mile relay
The course is a 1.05 mile singletrack loop with approximately 180 feet of gain per loop. The 100-mile solo distance requires 97 loops. Average site elevation is about 7,200 feet. Organizers report typical temperatures around 60-70 degrees at this time of year, with daytime heat and colder nights.
Logistics and rules
The event is centered on a 40-hour basecamp with hot and cold food, music, heaters, and volunteer support. The loop includes solar lights every few feet, two bathrooms, and two aid stations - basecamp is the main aid station and there is a water-only and drop-bag pavilion halfway through. Drop bags are allowed at both covered locations.
General rules include a 40-hour time limit with no mid-race cutoffs. Solo runners may use pacers but pacers must obtain a pacer bib and check in with staff; only one pacer at a time is allowed. Relay teams consist of 2-4 runners, must run the final loop together, may not use pacers, and are limited to one vehicle per team. Camping and parking are offered on site for the event; no campers, trailers, or RVs are allowed. Awards include a buckle for 100-mile solos and finisher awards for relay runners; all entrants receive additional event items. Refund and cancellation policies include partial refunds under stated conditions. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
