Course and rules
The course is a 1.05 mile loop on 100% singletrack through piñon and mesquite. Each loop has about 180 feet of elevation gain. The 100-mile distance equals 97 loops. Solar lights are placed along the loop, and a headlamp is still recommended. The average elevation is about 7,200 feet and typical temperatures at this time of year are around 60-70 degrees.
There are two bathrooms and two aid locations on the loop: basecamp (main aid) and a water-only and drop bag pavilion halfway through. Drop bags are allowed at both covered locations. Solo runners may have a pacer starting at sunset after checking in and obtaining a pacer bib; relay teams may not use pacers. Relay teams may have 2-4 runners, must run the final loop together, and share other specific team rules. Solo finishers receive a buckle; relay finishers receive a finisher award. All finishers receive sunglasses, a buff, and a race t-shirt. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
