Event
Uforea is a trail running challenge held in the Uwharrie National Forest near Troy, North Carolina. The event is organized by the UwharrieUltras team and uses a Special Use Permit from the Forest Service.
Distances
- 50K (Daytime)
- 50K (Nighttime)
- 100K (Ultimate Uforea - completion of both 50K races)
Course and format
Each 50K consists of a large 20.5 mile loop followed by a lower 11.4 mile loop, producing a roughly "32-ish mile" course. The Daytime 50K uses a clockwise tour of the Uwharrie and Dutchman's Creek trail systems; the Nighttime 50K uses the trails in the opposite direction.
The Ultimate Uforea 100K is completed by running both the Daytime and Nighttime 50K events; overall placings for the Ultimate event use the lowest combined times from both races. Event entry limits are 100 participants for the Ultimate Uforea, and 50 participants for each of the Daytime and Nighttime 50K fields. Cutoffs are specified for each 50K event. Overall awards are given to the top three male and top three female finishers in each event.
The refund policy: 50% refunds are issued for withdrawals made before January 1 of the race year; no full refunds or bib transfers. A single deferment may be allowed. In certain unforeseen circumstances, 100% credit toward a future race may be applied. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
