Turtle Derby 5K Trail Race

The Turtle Derby 5K Trail Race is a turtle themed 5K (3.1 miles) held on the trails at Hopkins Farm Brewery in Havre De Grace, Maryland. The event is organized to raise funds for the Susquehannock Wildlife Society's local wildlife conservation efforts and to raise awareness about turtle population declines. The course is described as a meandering 5K around the brewery trails.

Packet pickup is offered at two locations: the Susquehannock Wildlife Conservation Center and Hopkins Farm Brewery. Every participant receives a wooden race medal. Participants may add a race tee for an additional fee; shirts are ordered before the event and later signups have the option to purchase a shirt at the race.

Awards are given to the top three males and females in each age group. Age groups are: 10 and under, 11-18, 19-30, 30-50, and 50 and over. Additional prizes recognize costume categories, including most realistic turtle costume, most original turtle costume, best overall turtle costume, best group turtle costume, and best family turtle costume.

An after party follows the race with live music and beer available for purchase at Hopkins Farm Brewery. The event is supported by a grant from the Harford County Office of Community & Economic Development. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
