Event Overview

The DPS Education Foundation Turkey Trot 2025 is a Thanksgiving Day event featuring a 5K Run, 5K Walk, and a Children's Fun Run. This is the fifth edition of the event, organized by the Danville Public Schools Education Foundation in partnership with the Danville Otterbots and the Danville Running & Fitness Club. All proceeds support programs, initiatives, and scholarships for Danville Public Schools students and teachers.

Event Details

The event takes place on Thursday, November 26, 2026. The start and finish location is American Legion Field, the home stadium of the Danville Otterbots. The course for the 5K is entirely along the Dan River on the Riverwalk Trail.

Registration and Fees

The Children's Fun Run is free for participants aged 12 and under, provided an adult is registered for the 5K Run or Walk. Fees for the 5K events are:

  • $35 for pre-registration.
  • $40 for registration on race day.
  • A discounted rate of $25 for pre-registration (or $30 on race day) is available for all area students aged 17 and under.

Race day registration opens at 7:00 AM and accepts only cash or checks, which should be made payable to the Danville Public Schools Education Foundation. Packet pick-up is also available starting at 7:00 AM on race day.

Participant Perks and Awards

Registrants who sign up by November 14, 2025, are guaranteed a long-sleeve performance shirt. Shirts for registrations after that date are subject to availability. Trophies and medals will be awarded. Age categories for the 5K Run and Walk are: 0-14, 15-19, every 10-year increments up to 69, and 70 and over.
