After finishing a loop, a runner may rest until the next loop begins; for example, a runner who completes the loop in 40 minutes has 20 minutes before the next loop starts. If a runner fails to complete the loop within the hour or is not present when the next loop restarts, that runner is eliminated. The event repeats the loop hour after hour until a single competitor remains.
