Tough Topanga is a day of supported trail running in Topanga State Park at Trippet Ranch, Topanga, CA. The event offers multiple course options on rugged singletrack and fire roads through oak forests, chaparral, sandstone cliffs, and valley vistas with views of the San Gabriel Mountains and the Pacific Ocean.
Available distances:
- 15k Trail - Garapito singletrack, 9.23 miles, 1,780' vert
- 10k Trail - Classic route, 6.24 miles, 1,198' vert
- Hiker's Delight - non-timed entry with full aid station access
- Jr (under 13 only) - Kids 1k, 0.56 miles, 143' vert
Courses are marked for daytime and night running and feature chip timing and same-day results. Aid stations are staffed throughout the routes; specific mile locations are provided for each course. The event includes a festival area with a beer garden (21+), breakfast tacos with plant-based options, finish line announcers, music, and same-day race photography. Medical support and certified sports massage are available on course and at the festival.
Prize purses and awards are offered for overall and age-group finishers, including separate prize money for the 10k and 15k and a Downhill Mile cash bonus.
