Tough Topanga takes place on June 20, 2026, at Topanga State Park, Trippet Ranch in Topanga, California. The event features multiple distances:
- 15k - 9.23 miles, 1,780' vert
- 10k - 6.24 miles, 1,198' vert
- Hiker's Delight - non-timed option with full aid station access
- Junior 1k - 0.56 miles, 143' vert
The event includes a prize purse of $2,500, with $500 cash awarded to the overall female and male winners in the 10k and 15k, and $250 cash for the fastest Downhill Mile splits. Additional overall and age-group awards are given, and local Topanga residents are recognized as "Local Legend" winners.
Course, support, and logistics
Courses run on fire roads and singletrack through oak forest and chaparral, with sandstone cliffs, valley vistas, and ocean and mountain views. The 15k follows a Garapito singletrack addition with switchbacks and a final downhill mile. Aid stations are staffed on course and course markings, chip timing, and on-course medical support are provided. Post-race services include sports massage, a beer garden for participants 21+ with complimentary finisher beers, and breakfast options including plant-based tacos. Free off-site parking with shuttles is available on Topanga Canyon Boulevard; limited on-site parking is managed through the event registration system.
