The Tortoise and the Hare Trail Races take place on Saturday, April 4, 2026 in Salisbury, Massachusetts at Lions Park (8 Lions Way). The event includes the following distances:

  • 10K
  • 5K
  • 1 Mile COLOR RUN (NOT TIMED)

The event raises funds for Salisbury Parks and Recreation; 100% of net proceeds are allocated to that beneficiary. Entry fees for the 5K and 10K follow a tiered schedule: $25 through December 31, $30 through March 31, $35 through April 3, and $45 on race day. Youth 15 and under are listed at $20, $25 on race day. The 1 Mile Color Run fee is $25, $30 on race day and includes a t-shirt.

Course, logistics and amenities

All courses take place within the Salisbury Trail System. Early packet pickup is scheduled on the Friday before the race at Salisbury Senior Center (43 Lafayette Rd). Parking is available at DPW and the Senior Center (39/43 Lafayette Rd) with overflow at the Boys and Girls Club and Salisbury Elementary School.

All participants are guaranteed a dry fit custom t-shirt before April 1. Awards are given to top finishers: top 3 overall male and female in the 5K and 10K, top 3 male and female in age groups (15 & under, 16-19, 20-39, 40-59, 60-75, 76+), and top 3 non-binary. Post-race offerings include packaged snacks, fruit, music by Evolvement Radio, and one complimentary beer for participants 21+ using the ticket on their race bib. The event is held rain, snow or shine unless conditions are deemed dangerous; if the race is cancelled there are no refunds but organizers will attempt to set a postponement date.
