Thoresby Park Longhorn Trail Event 2026

The Longhorn Trail event takes place at Thoresby Park, Newark, on 18 April 2026. The estate covers over 1,000 acres of parkland and includes a 17th century mansion, an art collection, and wildlife such as wild deer and long-horned cattle. The venue postcode is NG22 9EP.

Routes cover several distances and age categories:

  • Family 2km, suitable for ages 5+, no canicross
  • 5km, suitable for ages 11+
  • 10km, suitable for ages 15+
  • Half marathon, suitable for ages 17+

The estate is fairly flat, and the 5km and 10km routes are noted as appropriate for first-time trail runners or those moving up from Parkrun. The event is canicross friendly except for the 2km family run; runners may take up to two controlled dogs and canicross entries have a separate start. Nordic walkers are welcome on any distance.

Live chip timing will be provided by Timing Up North. All finishers receive Wild Deer merchandise, an event medal, and a snack. A bespoke event T-shirt is available for an additional £12. A Peak District fell race on 16 June 2026 covering 6.8 km with 305 m of climb around Lea Green, Matlock. Entry on the day is available for £7 and juniors may run free with the main race.

A 4.5 miles fell race at Grindleford Pavilion on 18 June 2026, routing through Hay Wood, the Longshore Estate and Padley Gorge. The marshalled, partially taped course includes a river crossing near the finish.

NoMad Ultra on 20th June 2026 offers 50 mile and 50 km solo options plus a six person relay on waymarked trails around Derbyshire, with checkpoint support, GPS timing and finishers receiving a medal and Technical T Shirt.

A 24-hour community event in Meersbrook Park on 20 to 21 June 2026 that raises funds for women’s education and children’s mental health in Palestine. Participants can run, walk, jog or wheel as individuals, teams or families.
