The WILDness is a two-day trail running event held at Panorama Mountain Resort in the Purcell Mountains. Courses move through pine forests, talus slopes and ridgelines with sustained climbs to alpine terrain.
Distances and stages
- Saturday stage: 31.3 km, 2360 m elevation gain
- Sunday stage: 13 km, 820 m elevation gain
- 5 km Fun Run
Registration options include a two-day entry, single-day entries for Saturday or Sunday, and a 5 km Fun Run. Registration fees cover race entry, a participant item, a finisher item, a swag bag, and a BBQ ticket with a drink.
Mandatory gear is required before starting the longer Saturday stage. Required items include a pack or hip belt with a minimum of 1 litre water carry, a hat, gloves, a jacket, an emergency blanket or bivy, and a reusable cup for aid stations, as the event is cup-free. Bear spray is recommended but not mandatory. Poles may be used but must be carried to the finish.
Both stages have aid stations; the Saturday course includes multiple aid and water points and a course time limit, while the Sunday stage has an aid station at the highest point.
