The Two Bays Trail Run

Event overview

The Two Bays Trail Run takes place on Magnetic Island on Saturday, 23 May 2026. The event starts and finishes in Arcadia/Nelly Bay areas, with Race HQ at the Magnetic Island State School sports oval in Nelly Bay and the finish located at the Arcadia Village Hotel pub. Distances offered are:

• 6 km
• 12 km
• 21 km

Entry fees vary by distance and registration period. Early bird, general and late pricing apply for each distance. Junior entries are available for shorter distances with lower fees. Registration opens 1 December 2025 and closes 22 May 2026 or when sold out. Registered competitors receive a race bib with an electronic timing chip.

Course, services and rules

All courses follow marked, marshalled single-track trails through Magnetic Island National Park with technical sections, climbs and coastal views. The routes include sections that pass Horseshoe Bay, Sphinx Lookout and Radical Bay depending on distance. The 21 km course has a checkpoint at Horseshoe Bay where runners may be short coursed if they do not meet the checkpoint requirement.

Included with entry are course marking and marshals, on-course first aid, professional timing and photography, on-course hydration and snacks (no cups provided), post-race hydration and fruit, bag transfer to the finish and post-race massage subject to availability. Mandatory gear for 12 km and 21 km runners includes 2 compression bandages, a fully charged phone, a whistle, an emergency blanket, sufficient hydration and nutrition, and a head torch for 21 km competitors. Toilets are available near the start area and at the ferry terminal; school facilities are limited.
