The Strawberry Solstice Run
The Strawberry Solstice Run is an overnight timed trail event organized by the Driftless Trail Collective at the Millville Bridle Unit in Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin. The format is a 10-hour overnight timed course made up of repeated laps of a 5.25 mile loop on Driftless Area trails. This is the third annual running of the event.
The field is intentionally limited to 75 registrants. Organizers charge an entry fee to cover permitting, food, and event needs and suggest an additional donation to the Driftless Area Land Conservancy. The parking lot at Millville Bridle Unit serves as race headquarters and the sole aid station; a single porta-potty is available on course.
Aid station provisions follow typical race fare and include water, soda, peanut butter and jelly, fruit, salty snacks, and candy. The course includes varied Driftless Area elevation and trails, with one notably steep climb near the start where lights are planned to improve participant safety.
The event is scheduled to proceed in most conditions and will be held rain, snow, or shine. Organizers reserve the right to modify or cancel the event because of trail conditions, natural disasters, weather, pandemic concerns, or at the request of the Wisconsin DNR or local officials. The event emphasizes a joyful, supportive, and inclusive atmosphere. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
