The Strawberry Solstice Run - Prairie du Chien, WI
The Strawberry Solstice Run is a 10 hour overnight timed trail event held at the Millville Bridle Unit near Prairie du Chien. The course is a repeated loop of approximately 5.25 mile length on Driftless Area trails and includes varied elevation typical of the region.
The event is limited to 75 registrants. Organizers charge an entry fee to cover permitting, food, and event needs and suggest an additional donation to support the Driftless Area Land Conservancy. Packets and pre-race announcements are distributed at the Millville Bridle Unit shortly before the event; the parking lot functions as race headquarters and the sole aid station area.
Aid station offerings include water, soda, peanut butter and jelly, fruit, salty snacks, and candy. There is a single porta-potty located on the course. Organizers plan to place lights on a notably steep climb near the start for participant safety.
The event will proceed in rain, snow, or shine, with the right reserved to modify or cancel due to trail conditions, natural disasters, severe weather, public health concerns, or at the request of the Wisconsin DNR or local officials.
The atmosphere is described as supportive and community oriented, set within the natural landscape of southwestern Wisconsin's Driftless Area. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
