The Strawberry Solstice Run
The Strawberry Solstice Run is the third annual event organized by the Driftless Trail Collective at the Millville Bridle Unit in Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin. It is a 10-hour overnight timed trail event that uses a single loop of 5.25 miles. The field is limited to 75 registrants.
The parking lot at the Millville Bridle Unit serves as race headquarters and the sole aid station. One porta-potty is located on the course. Aid station offerings include water, soda, pb&j, fruit, salty snacks, candy, and similar traditional race fare. The course follows Driftless Area trails and includes varied elevation with one particularly punchy climb near the start; the organizers plan to place lights on that climb for runner safety.
Packets will be distributed and announcements made shortly before the event at the Millville Bridle Unit. A limited fee covers permitting, food, and event needs, and an additional donation to the Driftless Area Land Conservancy is suggested. The event is scheduled to proceed in rain, snow, or shine, while the organizers reserve the right to modify or cancel the event due to trail conditions, natural disasters, severe weather, pandemic concerns, or at the request of the Wisconsin DNR or local officials.
The event is described as having a joyful, supportive, and inclusive atmosphere within the Driftless Area of southwestern Wisconsin. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
