The Scammonden (50 Miles)

The SCAMMONDEN (50 miles) is a circular ultra race organized by Heights Ultra Trail, starting and finishing at Colne Valley High School in Linthwaite, Huddersfield, West Yorkshire. The 50‑mile loop blends wonderful trails, open moorland and dramatic upland vistas as participants pass through a series of checkpoints to complete the circuit. The course is mostly waymarked, with some open moor sections where map or GPS navigation is helpful.

It is inclusive and open to all, including LDWA entrants. Highlights include three well‑stocked feed stations, additional water stops, live GPS timing, and dedicated marshals plus rescue support. A PECO Cross Country League race at Roundhay Park, Leeds, on an undulating 4.5 to 5.0 mile course. Advance online entry for affiliated club members is £7 and includes remaining league races and end of season events.

A 5 miles fell race around Midgley Moor with path and heather moorland route choices and partial route marking. The event requires navigation, FRA mandatory kit and has limited parking with entry permitted up to 100 competitors.

A Peak District fell meeting in Mirfield on 15 February 2026 with junior championship races and a senior race over about 5 km with 210 m climb. Pre-entry and on-the-day entry are offered, and the event holds FRA permit insurance.

Choose a 25-mile or 12-mile route through the Yorkshire Dales, open to walkers and runners. It starts from Cracoe Village Hall and includes checkpoints with refreshments. The event must be completed within 10 hours.
