PieAthlon 2026

The PieAthlon is a combined trail run and pie-tasting event held on 5 December 2026. The event features a 6 km mainly off-road route that starts and finishes at The Dusty Miller Pub in Longwood, Huddersfield. Along the route there are three pie stations where participants can sample a selection of pies. The course passes varied terrain and includes a section known as the "bog of doom," offering views of the surrounding Longwood area.

The event is organised by the 25th Salendine Nook Scout Group in collaboration with The Dusty Miller Pub. Entry information includes an entry fee of £20 and an age minimum of 14 years. Medals are presented to all entrants and prizes are awarded for 1st, 2nd and 3rd overall, 1st lady, 1st junior and best fancy dress. Fancy dress is encouraged and a prize is given for the best costume.

Practical notes recorded for participants: parking near the start is very limited with some parking on Longwood Edge Road; the 356 bus from Huddersfield stops at Longwood Terminus near the venue; a baggage drop can be left at The Dusty Miller; no shower facilities are available and the event can be muddy so a change of clothes may be needed. Well behaved dogs are permitted but must be under control. Under 18s require parental consent or an accompanying adult. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
