The Maverick Hampshire Dark Gravel 2026

The event takes place on 31 October 2026 at Alice Holt Forest, Bucks Horn Oak, Farnham, Hampshire. The course uses 5 km laps through woodland tracks and tree-lined avenues. Head torches are used to follow the route after dark.

Participants choose one of three routes, each defined by whole laps:

  • 15 km - Long route, +194 m elevation
  • 10 km - Middle route, +133 m elevation
  • 5 km - Short route, +69 m elevation

There is one outpost on each lap offering sweet and savoury snacks and Precision Hydration fuel and electrolyte. There will not be pre-filled water cups; participants should bring a reusable cup or bottle for self serve water barrels. The event operates a plastic free approach at outposts and offers Hydrapak Speed Cups for sale.

The venue provides free parking and a bag drop area. The event includes course marking, timing, online results, event photography and a metal finishers medal. The route contains road crossings where care is required and on course marshals provide guidance.

Additional notes from the organiser: dogs are not permitted, headphones are not allowed, and participants under 18 must be accompanied by a participating adult. A 100 mile continuous Thames Path race from Richmond to Oxford, mostly on groomed trails and riverside paths. The route gains about 1 900 ft, includes aid stations and mandatory kit checks, and must be completed within 30 hours.
