The Maverick Dark Hampshire Gravel : Alice Holt Forest
The Maverick Dark Hampshire Gravel is a night trail event held in Alice Holt Forest near Farnham on Saturday 31 October 2026. The course uses 5 km laps; participants choose one, two or three laps to create the short, middle or long routes.
Distances
- 15 km - 3 laps of 5 km, +194 m elevation
- 10 km - 2 laps of 5 km, +133 m elevation
- 5 km - 1 lap of 5 km, +69 m elevation
The forest is described as ancient woodland within the South Downs National Park, straddling the Hampshire and Surrey boundary. Routes follow wide open tracks and tree-lined avenues, and runners navigate using a head torch. There is one outpost passed on each lap offering snacks and Precision Hydration fuel and electrolyte. The outposts are intended as top-ups only and aim to be cup-free; participants are asked to bring a cup or bottle.
Facilities noted for the event include free parking, a fully marked and timed course, online results, event photography, bag drop and food and drink at the venue. Finishers receive a metal medal. Dogs are not permitted. Headphones are not allowed and participants under 18 must be accompanied by a participating adult.
