The Maverick Dark Hampshire Gravel 2026: Alice Holt Forest

The event takes place on 31 October 2026 in Alice Holt Forest, a woodland that forms part of the South Downs National Park and sits on the Hampshire and Surrey county boundary. The course is run at night and participants follow head torch light around 5 km laps.

There are three distance choices based on lap count:

  • 15 km
  • 10 km
  • 5 km

Elevation gain for each route is published: the long route gains +194 m, the middle route +133 m and the short route +69 m. Each lap passes a single outpost intended for top ups of food and Precision Hydration electrolyte; outposts offer a range of sweet and savoury snacks. The event aims to operate cup free at outposts so participants should bring a bottle or cup.

Facilities and services listed include free parking, a fully marked and timed course, event photography, a bag drop area and a metal finishers medal. Headphones are not permitted and participants are asked to follow on course signage and marshals and take care at road crossings. Dogs are not permitted. Participants under 18 must be accompanied by a participating adult.

The venue is a short distance from Farnham and from Bentley train station, with multiple onward travel options from the station to the forest. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
