Event

The Maverick Hampshire Dark Gravel 2026 takes place on Saturday 31 October 2026 at Alice Holt Forest, Bucks Horn Oak, Farnham (GU10 4LS). Participants run laps of a 5 km circuit through woodland after dark, using a headtorch or chest torch to navigate. Dogs are not permitted. Participants under 18 must be accompanied by a participating adult.

Routes

Choose from three lap options:

  • 15 km - +194 m elevation
  • 10 km - +133 m elevation
  • 5 km - +69 m elevation

Each route is on wide forest tracks and tree-lined avenues. There is one outpost passed each lap offering snacks and hydration fuel; no pre-filled cups will be provided.

Facilities and rules

The course is fully marked and the event is fully timed with online results and event photography. Free parking and a bag drop area are provided. Food and drink will be available at the venue and finishers receive a metal medal. The event aims to be plastic free - runners should bring a reusable cup or bottle. Headphones are not permitted. Transfers out of the event are allowed once, up to the Monday before the event. All entries are subject to a booking fee.

The venue is in Alice Holt Forest, about 4 miles from Farnham and about 2 miles from Bentley train station.
