The Limberlost Challenge 2026

The Limberlost Challenge is an ultra trail running event held Saturday July 4, 2026 at the Limberlost Forest and Wildlife Reserve, 1002 Buck Lake Landing Road, Huntsville. The event uses restored trails on the privately owned reserve and offers multiple course distances.

The course includes technical sections that require nimble footwork and other trail sections that allow runners to open up their speed. The organizer states the course will be well marked and supported by volunteers. The event raises funds to help empower youth to become contributing members in their communities, and several charity partners are listed.

Pre-race activities include a Trail Talk webinar covering how to start trail running, terrain tips for hills and footing, what to wear and carry, fueling, and guidance specific to the Limberlost trails. A Try a Trail session on site offers guided runs on the reserve with options for 7 km and 14 km and a shoe demo with a prize draw.
