GNW Trail Running Festival

The GNW Trail Running Festival is a trail race event held on the Great North Walk. The race day is 20 September 2026. Entry windows for 2026 open in stages: Earlybird entries open 22 March 2026, Standard entries open 25 May 2026, Late entries open 27 July 2026, Super Late entries open 14 September 2026, and all entries close 17 September 2026.

The festival comprises multiple race distances with measured ascent, descent and cut off times as listed below.

  • 10K Actual distance 9.6 km, total ascent 329 m, cut off 4 hours
  • 30K Actual distance 29.2 km, total ascent 770 m, cut off 8 hours
  • 50K Actual distance 50.3 km, total ascent 1,485 m, cut off 11 hours

Entry fees for 2026 vary by race and entry period. For the 10K the 2026 price tiers are Early Bird $65, Standard $75, Late $85, Super Late $95. For the 30K the tiers are Early Bird $110, Standard $130, Late $150, Super Late $170. For the 50K the tiers are Early Bird $160, Standard $180, Late $200, Super Late $220.
