The GKI Trail Run : Fitzroy Frogs Triathlon
The GKI Trail Run takes place on Great Keppel Island off the Central Queensland coast and is organised by Fitzroy Frogs Triathlon. The route visits beaches and climbs island terrain, offering a choice of trail distances decided by participants on the day.
Participants are required to carry at least 1 litre of drinking water, basic nutrition, a mobile phone and a bandage because there are no aid stations on course. Marshals are stationed at checkpoints to log participant progress.
Event fees are listed by age category and do not include river or ferry transfers. Triathlon Australia members receive a $20 discount on registration. A family discount for two adults and two children is available; details are handled by the organiser.
A special morning ferry service runs between Rosslyn Bay Marina and Great Keppel Island; ferry transfers are separate to event entry and must be booked directly with the ferry operator. The Hideaway on the island serves as the event start and finish line and the recovery venue.
Registrations close on Friday 5 June at midnight; registrations are not accepted after this time.
