The Dormie Challenge 12-Hour Ultra Marathon

The Dormie Challenge is Portage County's inaugural ultra marathon, scheduled for May 30, 2026 at the University of Wisconsin - Stevens Point campus in Stevens Point, WI. The event uses a counter-clockwise loop around the UWSP campus with minimal elevation change and smooth surfaces. The course starts and finishes at Quandt Gym and is designed to be spectator friendly with facility access and parking nearby.

Two time-based endurance options are offered:

  • 12-hour endurance event
  • 6-hour endurance event

Field sizes are limited to 50 runners for the 12-hour event and 75 runners for the 6-hour event, for a total capacity of 125 participants. Registration opens October 31, 2025 at noon and there is no race day registration. Pricing is tiered with early bird, regular, and late registration levels for each event.

On-course services include fully stocked aid stations every loop, real-time lap counting and timing, and on-site medical support. Participants receive a finisher medal and an event t-shirt; timing chips are included. Event procedures require use of designated entry and exit corrals, tracking progress on the official board, and following instructions from course marshals. Trail runs nearby

Experience a scenic point to point run from Plover to Amherst along the Tomorrow River Trail. This half marathon concludes at the Central Waters Brewing Co for a memorable finish in Wisconsin.

A three-night trail series at Iola Winter Sports Club featuring a 5 km trail race, a free 1 km kids race, and a vertical jump challenge each night. Participants earn points that become raffle tickets drawn at the final night.

Trail races of 25k, 10k and 5k at Iola Winter Sports Club on October 24, 2026, run on singletrack and cross country ski trails. Course aid and post race refreshments are provided and awards recognize top finishers.
