Course

The Thames Trail Ultra is a point-to-point ultra-marathon covering a distance of 47 miles (approximately 76 km). The route starts at Hawkwell House Hotel in Iffley, near Oxford, and follows the Thames Path and sections of the Ridgeway National Trail to finish at the YMCA Y Centre in Henley-on-Thames. The terrain is a mix of 86% cross-country trails and riverside paths, and 14% road. There is an elevation gain of +947 ft (+289m) and a loss of -1053 ft (-321m).

Event Information

The race has five aid stations along the course, providing water, snacks, fruitcake, and energy bars. There is a final cut-off time of 11.5 hours. Participants must carry mandatory kit, including a waterproof jacket, survival blanket, headtorch, and mobile phone, which may be subject to random checks.

A baggage transfer service is offered from the start to the finish line, with a recommended bag size of 56 x 45 x 25 cm. GPS trackers are provided for real-time race tracking. The event is part of the UTMB Index System for the 50K category. Trophies are awarded for the top three male and female finishers, and all finishers receive a medal.

The start line is located at Hawkwell House Hotel in Iffley, Oxford. Limited on-street parking is available nearby. A courtesy shuttle bus runs from Oxford train station to the start.
