Thames Trail Ultra

The Thames Trail Ultra is a point to point ultra-marathon covering 47 miles along the Thames Path and sections of the Ridgeway National Trails from Iffley near Oxford to Henley-on-Thames. The course includes mixed surfaces: about 40.4 miles of cross country trails and riverside paths and about 6.6 miles of roads. Total ascent is around +289 m and total descent around -321 m.

The route runs past villages, river scenery and rowing clubs. Two course updates are noted this year: the Donkey Bridge near the finish is closed and a diversion is in place, and the Benson Weir footway is closed with the updated route marked on GPX and tracker files.

There are five aid stations offering water, snacks and Go Beyond fruitcake. Partnered energy bars are provided by Real Meal. Toilets are available near Checkpoints 1, 4 and 5. Cut off time for the event is 11.5 hours with progressive cut-offs from Checkpoint 3 onward.

All entrants must carry mandatory kit including a fully charged mobile phone, power bank, minimum 1 L water container, survival blanket (1.4 m x 2 m), waterproof jacket, whistle, headtorch with spare batteries, hat and gloves, a long sleeved base layer or fleece, and a debit or credit card. Baggage transfer is offered with a maximum bag size of 56 x 45 x 25 cm. Real time GPS tracking uses Geo Tracks and uploads position every 10 seconds.
