The TARC Winter Classic takes place Saturday, December 6, 2025, at Middlesex Fells Reservation in Stoneham, Massachusetts. Distances offered are:
- 8 mile
- 32 mile
- 40 mile
Online registration closes at the beginning of race week, the event typically sells out, and no race day registration is offered. The entry fee across distances is $25. A youth discount of $10 off is available for participants 19 years old or under through the youth trail program.
Course and race policies
The course uses loops of the white-blazed Skyline Trail with roots, rocks, frequent climbs and descents, and some views of the Boston skyline. Course marking consists of the trail's white blazes only; participants are encouraged to review course maps and download the GPX file. If a runner goes off course they must backtrack; GPS files may be reviewed and failure to follow the marked course can affect official results.
There are two aid stations per 8 mile loop: one at the start/finish and one roughly halfway (about 3.5 miles counterclockwise or 4.5 miles clockwise). This is a cupless race; runners must bring their own hydration system. Portable restrooms and menstrual products will be available at aid stations. Cutoffs are enforced: 32 and 40 mile participants must start their final 8 mile loop by 2:00 p.m. If starting the last loop within 30 minutes of the cutoff, a headlamp is required. Pacers are allowed only for the final 8 mile loop of 32 and 40 mile races and crew access is limited to the start/finish area.
