Nelson's Summit 50/50 is the sixth running of a trail race held in the Red House area of Allegany State Park near Salamanca, NY on Saturday, October 24, 2026. The event is organized by Salt City Trail Racing in partnership with the state park. Distances offered are:

  • 25km (~16.1 miles, ~2,244 ft elevation)
  • 50km (~32.2 miles, ~4,537 ft elevation)
  • 50 Miler (~50.2 miles, ~6,873 ft elevation)

The race is USATF sanctioned, Trail Sisters approved, and listed as a UTMB Index race. Registration closes on Wednesday, October 21.

Course and logistics

The course is a looped route that uses groomed trail and single track with rolling hills. The basic loop is about 16 miles with roughly 2,250 feet of elevation change; longer distances cover multiple laps. Cutoff windows are specified by distance (for example, 6 hours for the 25km, 9 hours for the 50km, and 14 hours for the 50 miler). Runners will start and finish at the Art Roscoe warming hut in the Summit trail system.

Two well-stocked aid stations will be on course. Aid offerings include water, Skratch, fruit, sandwiches, salty snacks, sweets, and limited hot food for 50 mile runners after mile 34. All entrants receive event socks and top finishers in each gender division receive prizes. Refunds are not granted; deferrals and distance changes are allowed under stated conditions.
