Squirrel Challenge

Daventry, United Kingdom • 4 Feb 2026

Event overview

The Squirrel Challenge is a timed six-hour running event organised by Big Bear Events at Daventry Country Park (NN11 2JB) on 4 February 2026. Entrants aged 16 and over on that date are eligible. The format uses a continuous loop of approximately 3.3 miles; participants complete as many laps as they wish within the six-hour limit. A marathon distance requires eight laps and a half marathon requires four laps. Canicross entries are available and rucking is permitted.

Course and facilities

Around 80% of the loop is on relatively new crushed stone and the whole route is on pathways. The final route may use newly opened sections of the country park and will be confirmed closer to the event. A GPX file is provided for the route. Daventry Country Park has a large car park, a cafe, a toilet block on the route and a children’s play area. Parking costs between £2 and £8 depending on duration. The park is about 20 minutes from M1 Junction 16; the nearest train station is Long Buckby.

Entry, fees and extras

The event operates tiered pricing; published examples include entry fees of £37 before 04/01/2026 and £42 after that date. Unaffiliated entrants pay an additional £2. The organiser offers a medal or, as an alternative, a Big Bear Tree Token that funds tree planting and contains wildflower seeds. There is a partnership with Roald Dahl’s Marvellous Children’s Charity and entrants may opt to donate. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
