Squirrel Challenge : Daventry Country Park
The Squirrel Challenge is a six-hour timed event held at Daventry Country Park, NN11 2JB, managed by West Northamptonshire Council. The course is an off-road loop of about 3.3 miles that is mostly on crushed stone pathways, with roughly 80% of the route on firmer surface. Final route details may change as new sections of the park open.
Participants complete as many laps as they wish within the six-hour limit. The organiser gives examples of lap counts for common distances: a half marathon is four laps and a marathon is eight laps on the stated loop. The event format also accommodates walking, hiking and rucking.
Facilities at the venue include a large car park, a cafe, a toilet block on the route and a children's play area. Parking charges are stated as between £2 and £8 depending on length of stay. The park location is described as about 20 minutes from M1 Junction 16; the closest train station is Long Buckby.
Canicross entries are permitted; handlers must keep leads short and follow the organiser’s canicross rules. The organiser notes a partnership with Roald Dahl’s Marvellous Children’s Charity and offers an option to make donations during entry. A GPX of the route is available from the organiser and on plotaroute. Entry pricing is tiered, with an earlier rate of £37 and a later rate of £42; unaffiliated entrants pay an extra £2.
