Squirrel Challenge : Daventry Country Park (4 February 2026)

The Squirrel Challenge is a six-hour event organised by Big Bear Events at Daventry Country Park (NN11 2JB). The format lets participants run, hike or walk as many laps as they wish within the six-hour time limit. The course is a 3.3-mile off-road loop; the event page notes distances can range from just over 5k up to more than 80K depending on laps completed. Canicross is permitted with short leads and consideration for other participants. Rucking is also explicitly allowed.

Logistics and course details

The route is mainly on relatively new crushed stone - about 80% of the loop - and stays on pathways. The final route may use new park sections and could be adjusted before the event. A GPX file is available for download. On-site facilities include a large car park, a cafe, a toilet block and a children's play area. Parking costs are listed as between £2 and £8 depending on length of stay. The park is about 20 minutes from M1 Junction 16; the nearest train station is Long Buckby.

Entry fees follow a tiered system: before 04/01/2026 the fee is £37, thereafter £42; unaffiliated entrants pay an extra £2. There is an optional charity partnership with Roald Dahl’s Marvellous Children’s Charity and an eco option that provides a tree token instead of a medal.
