The Southside Scramble is an intown trail race held at Southside Park, Atlanta. The course is 10 miles measured by wheel and runs through pine- and hardwood-shaded forest. The route features looping singletrack, steep descents, gravel stream crossings, powerline climbs, rock hazards, marsh passages, and occasional wildlife sightings. Proceeds benefit MTB Atlanta, a trail building and stewardship organization active in metro Atlanta.

Course, logistics, and support

The route begins at the north end of the parking lot and moves counter-clockwise around ball fields before entering the park trail system. Key trail segments include the Evergreen Trail, Connector, Hickory Connector, Hickory Trail loop, powerlines up to Hot Dog Hill, and the Oak Trail, finishing back at the parking lot for a 10-mile finish. Aid is available at stations around miles 2.5, 4.5, 6, and 8.2; stations offer water and electrolytes, with food supplied near mile 6. Southside Park has ample parking for participants and spectators; organizers encourage carpooling or ride share to reduce vehicle traffic. Dogs are not permitted on the race course but may accompany spectators off-course. Early packet pickup is scheduled for Oct. 1 and Oct. 2 at Red’s Beer Garden, 1328 Boulevard SE, Atlanta. Volunteer roles include aid stations, registration, parking, course marshals, and logistics. Award categories include Overall and Masters places, non-binary/open podium, and three-deep age groups.
