South Downs Way Ultra Run

The event on Saturday 28 February 2026 is a guided trail run of 30 miles, meeting at Harting Down in West Sussex. It is organised as a group run rather than a race. The cost is £45 per person.

Route and logistics

The route starts and finishes on Harting Down and follows sections of the South Downs Way and surrounding trails. Key points on the route include Beacon Hill, Cocking Down and Kingley Vale. The course also uses parts of the Sussex Border Path, the Shipwrights Way and the Staunton Way, and passes through ancient woodland, small villages and nature reserves on the approach to the south coast. A car park is available at the meeting location and a train station is a short run or taxi ride away.

Participant requirements and provisions

Participants are advised to have run at least 22 miles in training and to be able to sustain an average pace of about 10 minutes per mile (6 minutes per km) on trail for prolonged periods. A full kit list will be provided before the event. Navigation and route planning are handled by the guide, and there is an opportunity to ask running questions during the day. An alcohol-free beer may be offered at the finish, subject to availability. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
