Event overview
The South Downs Way Ultra Run is a guided trail run of 30 miles starting and finishing on Harting Down, West Sussex. The route includes sections of the South Downs Way and nearby areas such as Beacon Hill, Cocking Down and Kingley Vale. The course also uses parts of the Sussex Border Path, Shipwrights Way and Staunton Way and passes through ancient woodland, small villages and nature reserves. Organizers describe the route as suitable for first-time ultra runners, and the run is led by an experienced guide who is a Salomon and Suunto ambassador, mountain leader and qualified coach.
Practical information
The event takes place on 28 February 2026. Cost is £45 per person. A car park is available at the meeting location. The start is a short run or taxi ride from a nearby train station. Participants are advised to have completed at least 22 miles in training and to be able to sustain about 10 min/mile (6 min/km) on trail for prolonged periods. A full kit list will be provided before the event. Organizers will contact participants with further details a few days before the run.
