South Downs Trail Run
The South Downs Trail Run is staged from Goodwood Racecourse in Chichester, West Sussex, and routes lead into the South Downs National Park. The course offers views across the rolling South Downs with possible glimpses of the North Downs, Chichester Harbour and the Isle of Wight on clear days. The route travels along forest tracks, skirts Levin Down and includes a section of the South Downs Way before returning to Goodwood Racecourse. Terrain includes forest fire roads, bridleways and single-track trails.
Three distances are offered:
- 21.3 km Half Marathon, 328 m elevation gain
- 16.5 km, 309 m elevation gain
- 12.0 km, 199 m elevation gain
Canicross entries are available and the event is dog friendly; one dog per runner is permitted. Entries include chip timing, a finishers medal, a personalised certificate, finisher goodies, on course refreshments and water stations. First aid cover and marshals are provided along the course. The route is waymarked using pink arrows and pink tape, with hazards and road junctions signed as caution points. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
