South Downs Trail Run

The South Downs Trail Run is a trail event at Goodwood Racecourse, Selhurstpark Rd, Chichester PO18 0PS, held in November 2026. The event offers three distances:

  • 19km
  • 12km

Estimated elevation gain for each distance is listed as +328m for the 21km, +325m for the 19km, and +212m for the 12km. Spectators are welcome and the event is dog friendly; one dog per runner is allowed.

Course and event details

The route starts at the Goodwood Estate and goes into the South Downs National Park. The course uses forest tracks, fire roads, bridleways and single-track trails, and passes Levin Down and a section of the South Downs Way. The route includes a downhill into East Dean followed by a final climb back to Goodwood. The course is signed with pink arrows and pink tape; hazards and road junctions are marked with caution signs.

Entries include first aid support, water stations, chip timing, a finishers medal, a personalised certificate and finisher goodies. Runners collect bib numbers on arrival and are asked to bring their QR code. The event operates a plastic-free policy and requests runners bring a reusable cup or bottle.
