South Downs Trail Run

The South Downs Trail Run is staged from Goodwood Racecourse in Chichester, West Sussex, and routes lead into the South Downs National Park. The course offers views across the rolling South Downs with possible glimpses of the North Downs, Chichester Harbour and the Isle of Wight on clear days. The route travels along forest tracks, skirts Levin Down and includes a section of the South Downs Way before returning to Goodwood Racecourse. Terrain includes forest fire roads, bridleways and single-track trails.

Three distances are offered:

  • 21.3 km Half Marathon, 328 m elevation gain
  • 16.5 km, 309 m elevation gain
  • 12.0 km, 199 m elevation gain

Canicross entries are available and the event is dog friendly; one dog per runner is permitted. Entries include chip timing, a finishers medal, a personalised certificate, finisher goodies, on course refreshments and water stations. First aid cover and marshals are provided along the course. A point to point 50 km ultramarathon from Horsham to Brighton seafront on 9 May 2026, featuring multi terrain trails, four feed stations and a 9.5 hour cut off. Individual and two runner relay entries are offered with team prizes.

An inflatable obstacle-course event at Stoke Park, Guildford on 9 May 2026 offering 2.5k, 5k, 10k and 15k lap options with large inflatables, music zones, a finisher medal and family and charity entry choices.

A 5k obstacle event at Southsea Common on 09 May 2026 where participants climb, crawl and slide around a flat route while raising funds for cancer research; facilities include toilets and refreshments and accessibility support is provided.

A camp-based Backyard Ultra at Chilton Manor Farm featuring a repeated loop through private trails, fields and woodland with a high point at Bugmore Hill Trig Point and on-site aid, toilets and course photography.
