Slí Chorcaí Ultra is scheduled in County Cork on Saturday 7 February 2026. The event covers 60.50 km with 1,850 m of climb. The route is fully marked and GPS is allowed. Trackers will be used. The race is listed as Difficulty 10 (Extreme) and is part of the Irish Ultra Championships and the Munster Ultra League.

Route and aid stations

The route starts near the Gaeltacht village of Baile Mhic Íre and finishes at The Top Of The Rock campsite in Drimoleague. It follows the yellow waymark arrows of Slí Gaeltacht Mhúscraí to Gugán Barra, then follows St Finbarrs Way past Carriganass Castle to the finish. There is a cut-off point at Kealkill, approximately 42 km into the route.

Aid stations and services:

  • 15 km: Béal Átha’n Ghaorthaidh (hot drink, snacks, toilets).
  • 26 km: Gugán Barra (drop bag, drink, snacks).
  • 42 km: Carriganass Castle, Kealkil (cutoff point, drop bag, hot drink, snacks, toilets).
  • 50 km: Mealagh Valley Community Centre (drink, snack). The finish at Top of the Rock (about 60 km) will have hot food and drink, beer, wine, showers and sleep facilities. Participants are advised to download the route or otherwise have a means of following it, as yellow waymark signs may be hard to see in fog or mist.

Mandatory kit and rules

Mandatory Level C kit must be carried and includes a waterproof jacket with integrated hood and taped seams, hat or buff, gloves, whistle, charged mobile phone with an emergency number stored, foil blanket or bivvy bag, waterproof full leg cover, means to carry at least 500 mL of water, emergency food, a map of the route/area and a compass. The final kit to be carried may be confirmed on race day depending on conditions. Failure to carry required items may result in denial of entry or disqualification; random checks may be conducted.
