Slay the Dragon : Event summary

Slay the Dragon is a trail running event at Silver Star Mountain Resort near Vernon, British Columbia, scheduled for June 2026. The race uses mountain singletrack and offers multiple distance choices over alpine terrain.

Runners start at more than 5,200 feet and reach viewpoints around 6,280 feet with clear views of the Monashee Mountains. Courses include steep climbs, forested singletrack and technical trail sections.

Support and services: full aid stations on course provide water, Tailwind drink, Coca-Cola, fruit, salty snacks, mini naan, baby potatoes, sweets and gluten-free options. The event is cup-less; participants must carry a reusable cup, bottle, soft flask or hydration bladder.

Additional events: a Dragon Vertical Climb of about 1.1 miles with 480 m of vertical gain on unmarked slope, and a kids race of roughly 2.7 km for ages 0–12 on the Cross Mountain Trail.

Safety and rules: mandatory gear varies by distance (for 50 km: minimum 1000 ml fluid, at least 200 calories and a jacket or emergency blanket; other distances require at least 500 ml and emergency food). The course is marked with flagging and signs, first aid is provided at start/finish, and organizers enforce trail protection, no shortcutting, and disqualification rules for safety breaches. A 5 km foam run in Vernon BC on June 13, 2026 featuring more than 25 obstacles and about 2.5 million cubic feet of foam. The festival area includes a Kids Free Fun Zone, live DJ, food vendors and a licensed beer garden.

Trail race at Kalamalka Provincial Park with 5 km, 10 km and 21 km courses finishing on a beach at Kal Lake. Marked courses, timing, aid stations by distance and beach access for a post‑race swim.

Two looped formats at Silver Star Provincial Park on July 25–26, 2026: a Backyard Ultra of hourly 4.17 mile laps until one runner remains, and a 24 hour event to complete as many laps as possible.

Trail races at Kalamalka Lake Provincial Park near Vernon offer multiple distances and a kids event of about 2.5 km. Courses combine climbs, singletrack that can be technical or flowy, and lake views.
