The Kennekuk Road Runners - Siberian Express Trail Race takes place on January 3, 2026 in Oakwood, IL at Kickapoo State Recreation Area (10906 Kickapoo Park Rd, Oakwood IL 61858). This is the 43rd annual event, established in 1984. Online entry price is listed as $40 and registration opens November 1, 2025. To guarantee a race shirt or sweatshirt, online registration must be completed by December 11, 2025. Race day registration is available for a higher fee of $50 (cash or check only) and does not include a shirt or sweatshirt.

Course and event logistics

The course is 7.45 miles and is about 95% trail. The route heads into the woods and includes steep climbs and descents, creek crossings, and bridges. There are no aid stations on course due to the time of year, so participants are asked to carry their own food and hydration. Packet pickup on race day will include bibs, shirts, and pins and is located at the Kickapoo State Park Maintenance Building. The first 150 finishers receive a finisher award handed out at the finish; there are no age group awards. Camping is not available at Kickapoo State Recreation Area at this time of year. The post-race party is at Vermilion River Brewing Company, 103 N Vermilion St, Danville IL 61832; drinks are provided by the organizing club and a food truck will be available at attendees’ own cost.
