Course, logistics and rules

Courses use dirt county roads and USFS fire roads; some sections are rocky. Average elevation is over 10,600 ft. Aid stations are provided and the race publishes maps, elevation profiles, an aid station chart, and course videos. Drop bags are allowed for 50-Mile and 50k at specified aid stations; no drop bags for the Half. A mid-race drop-down is allowed: 50-Mile runners may drop to the 50k at Brown's Pass, and 50-Mile and 50k runners may drop to the Half at Horseshoe; no refunds are given for distance changes. Crews and pacers are permitted only under specified rules: crews for the 50-Mile at select locations, and pacers for the 50-Mile only. Camping options include tents, camper vans, roof top tents, and camp trailers.
