Sheep Mountain Trail Runs

The Sheep Mountain Trail Runs take place in Fairplay, Colorado, along the western slope of the South Park Valley. The race course is characterized by an average elevation exceeding 10,600 feet. The environment consists of a mix of wilderness areas, mountains, and hills, providing participants with views of the surrounding landscape and the mountain region.

Participants can choose from three distinct distances:

  • 14.2 Miles (Half Marathon)
  • 33 Miles (50k)
  • 53.1 Miles (50-Mile)

The ultra-distance courses, including the 33 Miles and 53.1 Miles, feature a combination of technical terrain and remote Forest Service roads. These routes are designed to reflect the rough nature of the local geography. In contrast, the 14.2 Miles distance offers a different experience, utilizing flowing dirt county roads and USFS Fire Roads, some of which contain rocky sections.

The event is organized by the Human Potential Running Series and focuses on the history and natural environment of the Fairplay area. All races start and end at Platte Drive. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
