The Sheep Mountain Trail Runs is the 12th annual event held in Fairplay, Colorado, with the Start/Finish at the Town of Fairplay Beach. The race has a runner capacity of 300 and a time limit of 16 hours. The course sits at an average elevation over 10,600 ft and takes place on the western slope of the South Park Valley.

Course and logistics
The course includes technical trail sections, remote USFS forest service roads, and flowing dirt county roads; some sections are described as rocky. Aid stations are provided and described as well stocked. Drop bags are allowed at select aid stations for 50-mile and 50k runners; the Half Marathon does not permit drop bags. The event allows crews and pacers for the 50-mile only, with specific pick-up locations at the Pasture Aid Station (Mile 36.5) and the Horseshoe Aid Station (second time through, Mile 45). Only one pacer is permitted at a time and HPRS does not provide shuttle service for pacers.
Included items for participants who register include a gender-specific race shirt and a finisher’s medal, subject to availability after a specified registration date. Camping options at the venue allow tents, camper vans, roof-top tents, and camp trailers; sleeping in vehicles is permitted. The event is held under permits from relevant land managers including Pike National Forest and local jurisdictions. Weather at this time of year can be highly variable.
