The Sheep Mountain Trail Runs take place on August 1, 2026 in Fairplay, Colorado with the start and finish at the Town of Fairplay Beach. The event is organized by the Human Potential Running Series. The event has a runner capacity of 300 and a time limit of 16 hours. Entry packages normally include a gender-specific race shirt and a finisher's medal; registrations purchased after July 20, 2026 are not guaranteed a shirt or finisher's award. Online registration closes July 28, 2026. All finishers receive a unique finisher's award; there are no podium or age-group awards. Awards will not be mailed.

Course and logistics
The courses run at an average elevation above 10,600 feet and use dirt county roads, USFS fire roads, technical trail sections, and remote forest service roads. Aid stations are provided and an aid station chart is available. Drop bags are allowed at specified aid stations: 50-Mile runners may use Horseshoe, Watrous, Round Hill, and Pasture; 50k runners may use Horseshoe and Pasture. A mid-race drop down option is available - 50-Mile runners may drop to the 50k at Brown's Pass, and 50-Mile or 50k runners may drop to the Half at Horseshoe on the first pass. There are no refunds or credits for dropping distance. The event is run under permits from federal, county, town, and private landowners.
