Settle Hills Race : Settle, North Ribblesdale Rugby Club

The Settle Hills Race is a BM category fell race held on Sunday 21 June 2026. The route starts in Settle Market Place and is based at North Ribblesdale Rugby Club. The course covers approximately 11.3 km / 7 miles with around 600 m / 1640 ft of ascent.

The route begins with a steep uphill section out of Settle before climbing onto rough ground above Attermire Scar. Runners follow flags over uneven, lumpy ground to the first checkpoint at Jubilee Cave, then run on faster paths before a sustained climb to High Hill over rough grassy trods. From the summit there is a very steep grassy descent to the second checkpoint and a water station at a road crossing. The final section runs on a rough bridleway and across fields back to the rugby club where light refreshments are available and toilets are provided.

Much of the course crosses private land and sections are off public rights of way; livestock may be present and dogs are not permitted. The route is fully flagged and well marshalled and a course map is provided. The race is held under FRA rules and runners are expected to carry the statutory FRA kit unless the race organiser relaxes requirements because of conditions. Parking is available at the rugby club. Minimum age for entry is 18 years. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
